We are looking for motivated and passionate young individuals who are eager to contribute to a diverse and dynamic learning environment.
To submit your application to the Senegalese committee, you must be nominated by your school. If you’re interested in UWC but don’t know whether your school will be sending out nominations, we suggest you contact your school principal to register your interest in taking part in the competition.
In addition, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Age requirement
Applicants must be between 15 and 18 years old at the time of application.
2. Educational background
Applicants must be currently enrolled in Seconde. A good academic record is important, but we also value a demonstrated commitment to learning beyond the classroom.
The Senegalese National Committee, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, will launch the selection process once the grades for the first semester of secondary school (2nde) are available. The Ministry of Education invites all schools in the Senegalese school system to send their two (2) best students in natural sciences. The Ministry communicates the information to the Inspections d’Académie Régionales (local education authority), which then forwards it to all schools. Schools must submit, for all candidates, transcripts of grades from sixth grade to the first semester of second grade. These grades are then averaged and ranked.
3. Residency and nationality
Candidates applying through UWC Senegal must:
- Be a citizen of Senegal
- Hold permanent residency in Senegal

4. Personal qualities and values
While academic excellence is important, UWC seeks students who exhibit:

5. Language requirements
UWC schools and colleges primarily use English as the language of instruction. While fluency is not required at the time of application, applicants are advised to attain a basic proficiency in English and demonstrate a willingness to improve their language skills.
